UTE characteristics and 2017-2020 Strategy

On 1 February 2017 the chamber of the universities of teacher education (UTEs) approved its strategy for 2017–2020 (german/french) and its definition of the characteristics of the higher education institution type UTE (german/french). The strategy includes ten objectives in the areas ‘Social function of the UTEs’, ‘Development of the profession’ and ‘Institutional development in UTEs’. The chamber of universities of teacher education will base its work on these guidelines in the coming years. The characteristics of the higher education institution type UTE are of both political-legal and of conceptual and strategic nature: they include, for example, the UTE’s key social function of training teachers and other specialists; specialist educational expertise; the dual academic and practical skills profile; communicating ethical values and the transfer of specialist practical know-how.
