P-11: Pilot programme to strengthen the dual competencies profile of young talent at universities of applied sciences (UAS) and universities of teacher education (UTE)

This programme is funded within the framework of the federal project contributions 2017-2020. The implementation and the financing of the project contributions 2017-2020 are subject to the decisions of the Parliament.

The project “Pilot programmes to strengthen the dual competencies profile of students at UAS and UTE” provides a framework for the identification, development, implementation and evaluation of specific models for promotion of young talent. These models help to ensure that UAS, UTE and their specialist departments have a sufficient number of qualified employees available, continue to enhance their specific profile at the interface between theory and practice and can thereby fulfil their fourfold mandate (teaching, research, continuing education, services).

The pilot programmes developed by the higher education institutions take into consideration the various subject areas and sector-specific requirements. They are selected following a call for tenders. Programmes worthy of support demonstrate great potential for long-term institutionalisation and are based on collaboration with non-academic partners (companies and/or other institutions). The programme evaluation and selection process is also guided by the categories of breadth (if possible programmes should span several higher educational institutions), transferability, innovative approach, as well as whether they take diversity into account.

The pilot programmes that receive funding should not only demonstrate how many people they reach throughout the project, but also what kind of experiences they offer people and institutions. Furthermore, the promoted programmes will be evaluated halfway through and at the conclusion of the project with regard to their suitability for institutionalisation and appropriate recommendations will be made.
