This programme is funded within the framework of the federal project contributions 2017-2020. The implementation and the financing of the project contributions 2017-2020 are subject to the decisions of the Parliament.
The programme "Cooperation between the Swiss UAS/UTE and the Swiss universities" envisages the support of cooperative projects in the field of doctoral courses, between the Swiss universities on the one hand and the Swiss universities of applied sciences (UAS) and Swiss universities of teacher education (UTE) on the other. The funded cooperative projects will be established and implemented jointly by the partners UAS/UTE and universities, with each one contributing its specific specialist skills and securing the quality of the doctoral courses offered. The goal is to cooperate effectively to support the doctoral students working at the UAS/UTE, where the responsible persons at the various types of higher education institutions join together in providing this supervision. The doctoral degrees are issued by the Swiss universities.
TP2 aims at consolidating the cooperation between the Swiss universities and the Swiss UAS/UTE in the field of doctorates, in order to strengthen young talent with a UAS/UTE profile.
Project applications can be submitted in three categories. However, funding for a single cooperative project can also be applied for in more than one category.
Category A: Doctoral programme
A doctoral degree is the sum of three components: a dissertation or doctoral thesis, doctoral studies (individual or as part of a programme of doctoral studies) and awarding of the doctoral degree. A doctoral programme is a structured course of education. It can have the following objectives:
- acquisition of cross-functional skills
- the induction of the doctoral candidate into a national and/or international scientific community
- deeper knowledge of a particular discipline
Category B: Other forms of cooperation for preparing doctorates
This category includes more than one doctoral programme and can include support activities for doctoral students. This can also involve a group of professors and doctoral candidates who work together on a research topic based on cooperation between universities, UAS and UTE – however, without being specifically attached to a doctoral programme.
Category C: Other joint activities in the area of doctoral studies
Category C includes other joint activities in the area of doctoral studies such as workshops for those supporting the doctoral students as well as the doctoral students themselves.
