The entrance examination is based on the federal vocational baccalaureate (FVB) examination and is intended to determine whether the person has achieved the required general education skills. Each university of applied sciences defines both the requirements and procedure for admission.
If a prospective student is able to provide evidence of the required skills, then no examination to test general education skills is necessary.

Individual UAS may recognise prior work experience and learning within the context of tertiary-level professional education up to a maximum of 90 ECTS credits. Decisive factors are the competences acquired and whether they are suited for the chosen field of study.
