In Switzerland, teachers at the primary school, lower and upper secondary school levels, as well as remedial and special needs teachers, are trained at universities. The university programmes for teachers lead to a professional teaching certificate that is recognised throughout Switzerland by the EDK and in the case of VET professionals, by SERI. The mandate in teaching is to provide high-quality, academic and practice-based education and training to teachers at all educational levels.
