The network aims at protecting researchers persecuted for their opinion and at preventing attacks on the freedom of scholars. By joining this network, swissuniversities testifies to Swiss higher education institutions’ commitment to academic freedom and autonomy, while stressing the importance of allowing scholars to perform their research under acceptable conditions. At present, 14 Swiss universities have already joined the “Scholars at Risk” network.
