Applying to Medical School

General Information

Anyone wishing to begin studying human medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or chiropractic in the autumn semester of 2020 must register electronically with swissuniversities by 15 February 2020. The online registration is now possible.

Please read the information sheet on the registration procedure carefully before registering.

Access to online registration: https://med.swissuniversities.ch/swissuniversities-medon-anmeldung

You now need a SWITCH edu-ID user account to access the MEDON registration platform. The SWITCH edu-ID gives you access to a wide range of academic services. Authentication when registering for medical studies is carried out via the edu-ID. If you do not yet have a user account, please set it up now.

If you have any questions or problems in connection with the SWITCH edu-ID, please consult SWITCH's support services.

Range of Courses

Information on the various disciplines and study locations can be found here.

Further information can also be found in the FAQ section.

The respective university, rather than swissuniversities, is responsible for changing subjects between the various medical degree programs once enrolment has been completed. In certain cases, timely registration with swissuniversities is necessary in order to take a qualifying examination. However, there is no centralized allocation of study places for this purpose. If you have any questions in this regard, please contact the university in question.

Admissions to Medical School

Places at Swiss medical schools are limited. The number of admissions per academic year is decided at the federal level. Should competition for places remain as intense as in previous years, admissions restrictions may apply at certain universities. These include pre-course aptitude tests or increased intra-university selection during the first year of study.

Applicants should contact their chosen university for information about general admissions requirements.

Please see here for admissions requirements for international students.
