swissuniversities tackles questions concerning research and development with the goal of creating and maintaining an optimal framework for universities, thus contributing to a successful higher education sector. 

In doing so, it carries out coordinating duties, such as the allocation of tasks in particularly costly areas, and manages joint projects of Swiss universities.
