CLOC Knowledge2Action
About the project
The CLOC Knowledge2Action in South Asia aims to be a regional hub to promote and facilitate cooperation in research and education on environmental sustainability and social wellbeing (ES&SW). The creation of this CLOC is the result of pre-existing collaborations between renowned knowledge institutions in Switzerland and South Asia and covers (as for now) the countries: India, Myanmar, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The CLOC aims to address the following four challenges:
1) The lack of comprehensive interdisciplinary teaching curricula relating to ES&SW at the university level Switzerland and in South Asia.
2) The mediation requirement between scientific knowledge on ES&SW and people’s place-based perception and expertise.
3) The requirement of very different forms of knowledge outputs for different SDG actors that can be communicated through a wide array of tools and skills.
4) The need for procedural knowledge of the regulatory decision-making environment and tactical skills to facilitate appropriate promotion of ES&SW.
In recognition of these challenges during the first funding phase, the CLOC will organize a research workshop and a summer school along with other supporting activities to enhance the promotion of the following SDGS: 4: Education & life-long learning; 11: Sustainable cities and communities; 12: responsible consumption and production; 13: Climate action; 16: Peace, justice & strong institutions; 17: Partnerships for goals. SDGS 5: on gender equality and SDG 8: on economic growth and work conditions are considered transversally.
