FROM THE OPEN SCIENCE PROGRAMME

Newly opened call B3.2: ORD funding for existing research infrastructures of strategic relevance

The aim of Measure B3 is to allocate cost-effective, long-term funding for ORD services and infrastructures of national significance. The call B3.2 welcomes project proposals that aim to promote ORD either by introducing a new ORD element or by further developing an ORD component in existing research infrastructures. If possible, and to avoid duplication, synergies with other existing infrastructures should be sought.

The call is open to existing infrastructures of all institutions eligible for funding that fulfill specific conditions (cf. Application Guidelines).

Submission deadline: 22 February 2024: Link to the application guidelines

Call for Open Access Projects 2023 – Newly funded projects

The Delegation Open Science has selected three projects for the Open Access Call, following the recommendations of the Open Science Reviewers’ Pool. Two projects have to fulfil conditions before they can start. Of the selected projects, two focus on the action line on alternative forms of publication, while one project centres on establishing shared services and e-infrastructures and participation to international initiatives.

Find here the list of approved projects, along with their abstracts, can be found.

Out now: Background Report Open Access Strategy

The Delegation Open Science is currently conducting a review of the Swiss National Strategy on Open Access. In order to prepare and structure the revision of the Open Access Strategy, a comprehensive Background Report was prepared by the Advisory Committee to the Strategy Review and the swissuniversities general secretariat. The recently published report covers the following:

  • a situation and context analysis on OA in Switzerland presented in accordance with the dimensions of both the current Swiss National OA Strategy and the Action Plan, supplemented by further dimensions observed in the current OA landscape.
  • Overview of key issues to take into account for the OA Strategy Review
  • Key documents on OA scholarly publications

Update on the negotiations with Elsevier

The mandating institutions were again informed about the current negotiations with Elsevier. The negotiations with Elsevier have not yet resulted in a mutually acceptable agreement. As the current agreement ends on 31 Dec 2023, preparations were put in place for a scenario without agreement as of 2024. The consortium of university libraries has worked closely with its ‘Working Group’ to prepare information and documents so that the mandating institutions can then undertake the necessary preparations:

Meanwhile, the negotiation team continues its effort to find a solution with Elsevier.
