Track A: Explore projects encompass early-phase exploration as well as the testing and prototyping of a potential ORD practice. They allow for engagement with a community without necessarily creating a final product. The objective is to help researchers explore if and how ORD practices can be developed.

Two calls for proposals are issued for this track. The first call is currently open with a deadline of August 2, 2022. The second call will be issued from October 31, 2022 to December 31, 2022.
The application guidelines are available here. The links to the relevant forms are included in the application guidelines.

Further information can be found on the "Swiss Open Research Data Grants" website.

Action line B5.2: Action plans on data stewardship

Action line B5.2 of the ORD Action Plan aims to promote data stewardship and ORD specialists at all higher education and research institutions. Data stewardship is the focus of the first implementation step until 2024.

All eligible higher education institutions are invited to describe their ideas and intentions for building up data stewardship at their institution in the form of a brief action plan. The hand-out is available on our website (GermanFrench). The deadline for the call for proposals is October 1, 2022.

More detailed information about the call and the relevant forms can be found on our website.

Webinar: Focus on Open Science – Beyond Transformative Agreement

Stockholm University hosted the 37th chapter of the series “Focus on Open Science”. The online event focused on a possible future beyond transformative agreements and included keynotes from notable speakers, such as Astrid Söderbergh Widding, the President of Stockholm University.

In her note, Söderbergh Widding acknowledged transformative agreements as important steps, but also argued that one needs to go beyond them to avoid stagnation in open science efforts. For the President of Stockholm University, transformative agreements do not bring the necessary change to the system. She claimed that academia needs to take back the control over the publishing system and alternative publishing models should be tested. Söderbergh Widding’s speech ended with the appeal: “The system will never be changed by itself – action is needed now!

You find a recording of the entire event here.
