swissuniversities reçoit occasionnellement des informations relatives à d'autres offres de financement octroyées par des universités et autres institutions ou fondations étrangères.

Des institutions d'éducation étrangères offrent parfois elles-mêmes des bourses aux étrangers. Ces offres ne sont pas forcément largement publiées. Nous recommandons donc aux étudiants avancés et avant tout aux chercheurs de se renseigner directement auprès de l'institution d'accueil pour un soutien financier.

Studienbeiträge der Finnischen Vereinigung der Freunde der Schweiz (SYS) in Helsinki für einen Studienaufenthalt in Finnland
Der Stipendienrat der SYS gewährt jährlich mehreren interessierten Schweizerinnen und Schweizern einen Studienbeitrag für einen Aufenthalt in Finnland von 2 bis 4 Wochen. Der Studienbeitrag beträgt je nach Studienobjekt und Aufenthaltszeit zwischen EURO 1,000 bis EURO 1,500 und wird jeweils nach der Ankunft in Helsinki ausbezahlt. The "Germaine de Staël" programme promotes collaboration between French and Swiss researchers and research teams by providing funding towards travel and accommodation expenses incurred by their team members as part of attending meetings or conferences. Funding of around CHF 4,500 per project per year is provided to Swiss participants.

Great Britain

 

Home fees and loans for Swiss students at British universities
Following a revision of the fee guidelines for UK universities, the children of Swiss nationals may be granted 'home' fee status at UK universities if they meet certain conditions. These conditions are explained on the website of the UK Council for International Student Affairs UKCISA (INFO & ADVICE -> FEES AND MONEY).

Prospective Swiss students who fulfill all required conditions are entitled to study at British universities at the standard fee rates for students from the UK and other EU states. In addition, those students may apply for financial support in the form of loans. Detailed information about the conditions which apply can be found on the UKCISA website.

The assessment whether a prospective student will be classified as 'home' or 'overseas' will be made by the university’s admissions office and should be based on the regulations, and guidance, published by the governments of the four countries of the UK - England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

The Fondation Zdenek et Michaela Bakala Geneva grants international scholarships to students or research fellows to give them an opportunity to study at top-ranked universities in the United-States or the United-Kingdom. The program is available to students or research fellows from universities of Geneva, Lausanne, Zurich and St. Gallen, the EPFL, ETHZ and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. The program does not include students at the Bachelor's level or ERASMUS students.

Berrow Foundation Scholarships and Berrow Foundation Lord Florey Scholarships: A generous gift from the late Marquis de Amodio provides for the award of six or more scholarships each year to enable graduates of Swiss universities to undertake a course of advanced study at the University of Oxford as members of Lincoln College. The scholarships cover all Course fees, college accommodation costs and a generous living allowance. They are tenable for up to three years.

The Onassis Fellowships Program for International Scholars is aimed at academics of all ranks – members of national Academies, Ph.D. holders and post-doctoral researchers – to conduct research in Greece in subjects relating to Greek culture and society.

JSPS International Fellowships for Research in Japan
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) provides fellowship programs for overseas researchers who have an excellent record of research achievements to conduct collaborative research, discussions, and opinion exchanges with researchers in Japan. The programs are intended to help advance the overseas researchers' research activities while promoting science and internationalization in Japan.
The "JSPS International Fellowships for Research in Japan" consists of two programs: Postdoctoral Fellowships for Research in Japan for young researchers and Invitational Fellowships for Research in Japan for mid-career and senior researchers.

The  Hosei University in Tokyo offers within its "Hosei International Fund (HIF) Foreign Scholars Fellowship Program" a few fellowship grants for a period of six months to young scholars from abroad who are, at least, enrolled in a doctoral degree program to carry out non-degree research.

Every year, the Matsumae International Foundation (MIF) invites about 20 foreign researchers to Japan under the Fellowship Program of MIF. Applicants are free to select host institutions (universities,  national  research  institutions  or  the  corresponding facilities  in  private  sector) in which to carry out their research of 3-6 months in Japan.

Annually, the Canon Foundation in Europe grants up to 15 Fellowships to highly qualified European and Japanese researchers in all fields. Applicants do not have to be currently enrolled or employed at the time of applying. Canon Foundation Fellowships are for a minimum period of three months up to maximum of one year. Canon Fellows from Europe are free to choose their host institutes and hosts in Japan. Canon Foundation Research Fellowships may be applied for when an agreement on co-operation and on a research plan has been reached between the guest researcher and the proposed host institution. The annual deadline for applications is usually September 15 but because as a result of Covid-19, the deadline has been extended to 15 February, 2021.

The Ulam Programme - Mobility grants for post-doctoral researchers
The objective of the Ulam Programme is to help foreign researchers to develop their career by intensifying international mobility as well as allowing them to establish scientific cooperation with excellent host institutions in Poland. Visits within the programme can last from 6 to 24 months. The scholarship includes a living allowance in the amount of approx. 2400 euro monthly which can be increased by about 500 euro and/or 240 euro for an accompanying spouse and/or underage child. The scholarship also includes a one-off mobility allowance ranging from 1600 euro to 2800 euro depending on the researcher's departure country, which can also be increased in case of the accompanying family members.

The Poland My First Choice scholarship programme aims to encourage young talented people from several countries, including Switzerland, to pursue studies at the best Polish HEIs. The Programme offers an opportunity to pursue full-time second-cycle studies in Polish or in another language at public and private HEIs on all fields of study offered by institutions offering education at highest level, with a monthly scholarship amounting to PLN 2,000 (ca. EUR 460) to cover the living allowance during the period of education in Poland. In the case of public HEIs, the Programme also offers an exemption from education fees.

Work Holiday Programme (WHP)
Singapur gewährt Studentinnen und Studenten der Schweizer Hochschulen den Zugang zum Arbeitsmarkt während maximal 6 Monaten, um im Rahmen eines Praktikums die im Studium erlangten theoretischen Kenntnisse umzusetzen. Studentinnen und Studenten, sowie AbsolventInnen der Schweizer Hochschulen steht die Möglichkeit offen, in Singapur während bis zu 6 Monaten einer Berufstätigkeit nachzugehen.

The Slovene Human Resources Development and Scholarship Fund conducts various scholarship programs for Slovenes and foreign students coming to Slovenia.

Taiwan

 

The Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP), jointly organized by Academia Sinica in association with top research universities in Taiwan, offers highly specialized, inter-disciplinary Ph.D. programs. The programs are designed to provide advanced scientific training and research environments for those who wish to do advanced research, to think critically and to experience a mature international academic setting. TIGP offers graduate fellowships (NT$34,000/month) to each admitted student for up to 3 years, based on satisfactory academic and research performance.

The Taiwan Fellowship is established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to award foreign experts and scholars interested in researches related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, Asia-Pacific region and Sinology to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan.

The Research Grant Program of the Center for Chinese Studies (CCS) in Taiwan is designed for foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors (including post-doctoral researchers) and doctoral candidates in departments related to Chinese studies at foreign universities, as well as researchers at related foreign academic institutes. The research should be undertaken in Taiwan, and be focused mainly on Taiwan or Chinese studies.
