FROM THE OPEN SCIENCE PROGRAMME

Open Research Data

swissuniversities and the ETH Domain jointly organise the Swiss Open Research Data Grants programme. The collaboration enables coherent and broad bottom-up support for ORD practices across disciplines and higher education institutions in Switzerland, thereby facilitating the creation of synergies and complementarities. Furthermore, the collaboration ensures the efficient use of public funding available to swissuniversities and the ETH Domain.

Track B “Establish projects” supports the anchoring of existing ORD practices that have a research agenda and a common understanding of ORD principles. It provides the opportunity to take these practices to the next level, improve their scope, and develop projects that can become de facto standards in a community and promote quality.

The call for pre-proposals (first application phase) has already been issued. The application guidelines are available here. Pre-proposals may be submitted up to 1 July 2022.

Track A: “Explore projects” encompasses early-phase exploration as well as the testing and prototyping of a potential ORD practice. It allows for engagement with a community without necessarily creating a final product. The objective is to help researchers explore if and how ORD practices can be developed.

Two calls for proposals are issued for this track. The first session opens at the end of June 2022 with a deadline of 1 August 2022. The second call will be issued from 31 October 2022 to 31 December 2022. The application guidelines and the application form will be available on our website by the end of June.

An overview of the current calls for proposals in the field of ORD can be found on our website.

Webinar: Swiss Open Research Data Action Plan - Overview & Next Steps

On 19 May 2022, the webinar "Swiss Open Research Data Action Plan: Overview & Next Steps" took place, informing participants about the implementation of the action lines that are the responsibility of swissuniversities. The webinar focused in particular on the upcoming calls for proposals to support open research data practices and data stewardship.

The slides of the webinar are available under this link.

If there are any further questions on this topic, feel free to contact Dr. Katja Fiechter or Marc Aeby directly.

Call for Tenders – Regulatory Framework

As mentioned in the previous issues of our newsletter, the call for tenders Regulatory Framework has been launched in March 2022. The call is by invitation only and all potential bidders have been invited to submit an offer by Friday July 1, 2022.

All information about this call for tenders is available under this link.

P-5 Scientific Information programme (2013-2021) closing event

On June 1st, a closing event of the P-5 programme took place in Bern at the Haus der Universität. Project leaders and partners met for a joint exchange to share best practices and lessons learned in this constellation, strengthen contacts, and joined forces for the future.

On behalf of the Open Science programme, we would like to thank everyone for actively participating in this event, and we are looking forward to the next phase of the Open Science programme.

At the same time, we would like to remind you of our website, where we have collected numerous outcomes of the P-5 programme and presented them at a conference in autumn 2021. The keynotes and videos of these outcomes are available online.
